SurgAR

SurgAR develops software to assist laparoscopic surgery through augmented reality for a safer and more efficient surgery.

Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS, also called laparoscopy) is performed through small incisions with the help of a camera. It is highly beneficial to the patient but complicates the surgeon’s task compared to classical open surgery because of the loss of hand-eye coordination and tactile feedback. Augmented Reality (AR) is the solution to resolve these strong drawbacks. SurgAR (Surgical Augmented Reality) aims to finalize the development and commercialization of a software that enables AR during MIS. The software offers the possibility to visualize tumors and anatomical landmarks in real time on the surgeon’s screen by adding information from the preoperative images such as MRI and CT. Our software is based on a disruptive technology (computer vision and artificial intelligence) developed for more than 10 years. Augmented reality will enhance the quality and access to minimally invasive surgery with a potential major impact on surgical health care systems worldwide.
